On 9 October 2011, the ferry service proudly won 'Highly Commended' at the Pittwater Council Sustainability Awards, small business category.
Judges looked for green innovations that involved staff, resources, or new business practices. They took notice of the ferry service's 2011 green projects:
Green Tickets: a programme to offset ferry fuel emissions and reduce a passenger's own carbon footprint.
Putting back into the earth: planting managed, native trees in Australia.
Planting gums in Pittwater: giving Spotted Gum saplings to passengers on National Tree Day, 31 July 2011.
Clean energy: switching the ferry office to Australian GreenPower.
Our regular commuters have enthusiastically chosen the Green Ticket. This award also belongs to the community!
