Taking action. Being environmentally responsible.

Church Point Ferry Service Green Ticket. An extra $1 for the multi-pass helps offset ferry fuel emissions.

We are reducing our footprint and becoming a more sustainable service. You can also reduce your impact on the environment by choosing the new Green Ticket.

Offsetting our fuel: an extra $1.00 for the Green Ticket

You can now choose a multi-trip Green Ticket for an extra $1.00. We invest 100% of your dollar into green initiatives. Primarily your contribution goes to internationally certified carbon credits. Carbon credits offset your trips’ emissions through initiatives such as renewable energy projects.

What is a carbon credit?

A carbon credit is a tradable certificate. It signifies the removal of carbon or greenhouse gases from the atmosphere through green initiatives. One carbon credit is equal to one tonne of carbon dioxide.

Sustainability specialist, Pangolin Associates, calculates the greenhouse gas emissions from our fuel usage, and helps us with certified carbon offsetting.

Additionally, we're investing in reforestation

Part of your dollar also goes towards reforestation in Australia. We work with the not-for-profit organisation, Trees for Life.

Trees for Life native trees come with a 30-year guarantee. They’re protected against clearing and actively managed. Did you know 5 mature trees remove approximately 1 tonne of carbon from our atmosphere?

GreenPower and other sustainability measures

To limit our impact on the environment, we use GreenPower, an Australian government program supporting renewable energy.

In the ferry office we also avoid printing as much as possible. Otherwise, we choose the duplex setting to reduce our paper consumption. We use eco friendly, recycled paper for our Green Tickets. We will do so for future printing of standard tickets.

Our office recycles all recyclable items. We also look to minimise our waste generation as much as possible.

Silver sustainability rating: offsetting passenger trips with Green Tickets and ferry office with GreenPower.

Something to think about...

Outboard motors are polluting to our beautiful Pittwater. Why not make one more day a week a ferry day? It makes a difference.
